In most cases, nothing. Lenders pay us a commission for arranging your loan. For certain types of specialist or short-term lending, a fee may apply, and we’ll always let you know before you commit to anything. Read our disclosure statement for more information.

Often, yes. A bank decline doesn’t always mean you can’t get a loan. It may mean that the bank’s criteria don’t suit your circumstances. We have access to non-bank lenders and specialist lending products that cater for self-employed borrowers, those with irregular income, and applicants with past credit issues.

Timeframes vary depending on your situation and the lender. A straightforward pre-approval can often be turned around within a few days. More complex applications may take a couple of weeks. We keep you updated throughout and work to minimise delays wherever we can.

We ask for photo ID (passport or NZ driver licence), proof of income such as payslips or financial statements if you’re self-employed, three months of bank statements, a summary of any existing debts and assets, and your KiwiSaver statement if you plan to put it toward your deposit. Don’t worry if you’re not sure what applies to your situation. We’ll walk you through it during your initial consultation.
